Scenes from the life of Mathilda, some are narrative, some are seated portraits; most miniatures use a combination of drawings in pen and drawings that have been painted - a few use gold paint; all done in Romanesque style, usually with some kind of architectural frame -- f. 88r has a six-line-high roundel set in the text block that contains busts of Peter and Paul, with a cross staff between them -- There are three large initials (two are four lines high, one is eight) that are done in red ink, gold paint, and a blue interior wash, and two of them are half formed by the bodies of animals -- A number of larger red initials throughout the manuscript have flourishes that use a maroon color with the red
